Arkansas : Administration

Arkansas is ranked 32nd among the 50 states of United States. Arkansas is located in the southern region of U.S. sharing borders with six other sates Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. Arkansas was the 25th state admitted to the union of United States. Arkansas has two Senators one is democratic and the other is republic. The state holds four seats in the U.S. House of representatives.  One seat is held by the Democrats while the other three seats are held by the Republicans. Majority status in the Arkansas general assembly is of the Democrats also holding the statewide offices. Arkansas became more Republican in the president elections in recent years. Most Republic strength lies mainly in the northwestern part of the state. Republicans have been known to get 90 percent or more votes in the latter. The General Assembly of Arkansas has not been controlled by the republicans since the reconstruction and is the fourth most heavily Democratic legislature in the country. Arkansas is among the three states of the former Confederacy that sent two democrats to the U.S Senate during the first decade of the 21st century. Democrats have a very great majority of registered votes, and are more conservative than their counterparts. The lieutenant governor in Arkansas is elected separately from the governor and is free form a separate party. The term of every year is of four years. The statewide elections are held after the Presidential elections. Some Arkansas county has two county seats in the U.S. and the seats are on opposite side. Arkansas is the only state to specify the pronunciation its name by law as AR-kan-saw. In Arkansas Constitution it is entitled “Atheists disqualified from holding office or testifying as witness”.
